April 27, Beijing Haier today announced the launch of the Haier Olympic Gold Medal Families program. Wang Anxi, Chairman of Haier's Supervisory Board, said that this family competition was an important part of Haier's "Olympic host strategy".

The competition begins in May and will run until August. Households can enter to experience a little of the excitement of the Olympic Games for themselves. Families with spare rooms in Beijing and Qingdao, two cities hosting Olympic events, can offer their spare rooms as temporary guesthouse accommodation for international visitors to the Olympics. Families who offer to put up visitors in their spare rooms will be entered in the competition. Haier will select 300 entrants through an online draw, and after training, these families will be able to host Olympic visitors from all over the world.

Wang Anxi said that there were three levels to the Olympic Gold Medal Families program: the first is a passion for a good home life, the second is supporting and being part of the Olympics, and the third is spreading Chinese culture and the Olympic spirit.
